Abner Oakes leads Oakes Educational Consulting. He has over 35 years of experience in the world of K-12 education. Right out of college, he spent 15 years teaching middle and high school English. Since 1997 he has worked on public school improvement issues at the school, district, and state levels, both as a consultant and with national organizations such as Modern Red SchoolHouse, Learning Point Associates, and the Alliance for Excellent Education. He lives in the Washington, DC area with his wife and son and plays left wing on two ice hockey teams, the Ice Turtles and Aging Bulls.
